Competitive club futsal in the MetroWest Boston area. U8 through High School. Tryouts this fall.
What is Futsal
Futsal is a 5v5 indoor sport played on a hard court with a smaller, weighted ball. Developed in South America and recognized worldwide as one of the best environments for player development. The court is smaller, the pace is faster, and individual players are involved in the game and are forced to problem solve far more often than in the eleven-a-side outdoor format.
Why Play Futsal
With a different ruleset and played on a small court with 10 total players, futsal creates an environment where each player gets way more touches on the ball and has to think much faster. You have no time to think about your mistakes as the other team could get into a goal-scoring situation after just one pass. Your individual technical skills need to be used to problem solve and adapt very quickly. Players who play futsal in the winter end up being more comfortable on the ball and are better at processing the field when outdoor in the spring. And we don't have to play futsal just to get better at soccer. Our club also exists because futsal itself is an incredibly fun and engaging sport that we hope our players will play long into the future.
Tryouts
All players interested in joining a Wolves team must attend tryouts. If you cannot make your age group's session, contact us through the site before signing up for the makeup slot.
Teams
Every player who joins the Wolves is part of one program. Teams are placed at the right competitive level within the Mass Youth Futsal League and receive coaching from licensed, experienced staff.
Our top players are recommended to attend the US Youth Futsal National Program ID Clinic for the Northeastern Region, held at the Park School in Brookline. Players selected from that event are invited to the National Camp, where they compete for a spot on the National Team.
Apex Teams are the highest competitive tier within the Wolves program. Only one Apex Team can exist per age group, and they are formed only when the right caliber of players is present. Apex Teams are selected by invitation following tryouts or through an application form and subsequent evaluation.
Our standard team program places players at the appropriate competitive level within the Mass Youth Futsal League. Teams practice once per week throughout the season and participate in the league playoffs based on seeding at the end of the regular season.
Season Details
Practices begin the first week of November and run through mid-February. Matches take place on weekends starting in December, on either Saturday or Sunday depending on age group and division level.
Primary practice location is the Charles River School in Dover, MA. Additional court time in Needham, Wellesley, or Newton may be used as needed to accommodate all teams.
The club handles uniform ordering. When you register, your size is recorded and your kit is ordered with the rest of the club. You do not need to purchase or arrange anything separately.
Coaches
Every coach in the Wolves program holds a USYF license and brings competitive playing and coaching experience to the court.
