Metro West Football Academy · Summer Training

High School
Preparatory Program

Curriculum-driven group training designed around individual improvement. Evening sessions all summer, no commitment to fixed dates, built for players who are serious about getting better.

This is not
a summer
camp.

Summer camps operate to fill a day; they run a variety of activities with lots of kids for an overall fun and social experience. That is not what this is. The Academy Summer Training program is an individually focused group training program built around a structured coaching curriculum. Every session has a specific learning outcome. Every player receives direct coaching attention. Every week they leave better than they arrived.

The difference is the level of intentionality. Sessions are 2 hour group training sessions. Our coaches are licensed professionals who deliver sessions that follow our development-focused curriculum. The training is hard, the feedback is direct, and the expectations are high. Experience level is not a prerequisite. Work ethic is.

Individual Attention
Group setting, individual focus. Every player receives direct coaching feedback throughout the session.
Academy Curriculum
Every session follows a structured development curriculum. Consistent, intentional training regardless of which coach is on the field.
Club Neutral
We help players improve for their club, school, or academy team. No affiliation required.
Flexible Scheduling
Buy session credits in advance and attend the evenings that work for you. No fixed commitments.
The Program

High School Preparatory

Designed for players entering 8-9th grade and 10-12th grade. Whether you are preparing for your first high school tryout or your final season before college recruitment, this program meets you where you are and pushes you forward.

Who This Is For

Players entering high school through senior year who want to compete for a roster spot, improve their standing on a varsity program, or develop toward collegiate-level play. You do not need to be at a certain level. You need to be coachable, willing to work hard, and genuinely interested in getting better. Players from any club, school, or background are welcome.

Technical
The Five Fundamentals

The foundation of everything. All five skills are trained to the standard the high school game demands, with high expectations for execution and situational precision.

  • Receiving under pressure
  • Passing — weight, angle, timing
  • Dribbling and 1v1 situations
  • Ball striking — finishing, crossing, and distance shooting
  • Tackling and defensive dueling
Tactical
Decision Making

Individual decision making is the focus at this age; reading the field before you receive, understanding your options, and executing the right action under pressure.

  • Scanning and field vision
  • Playing with your head up
  • Gameplay principles and their application
  • Final third decision making
  • Defensive positioning and recovery
Physical
Athletic Development

The physical demands of high school and beyond are significantly higher than youth soccer. Sessions address the specific athletic qualities the game requires.

  • Strength and explosivity
  • Acceleration, deceleration, and change of direction
  • Mobility and injury resistance
  • Soccer-specific conditioning
How It Works

Format and Schedule

Two sessions per week all summer long, held in the evening. You choose how many weeks you attend without upfront commitment to specific dates.

Sessions
2 Per Week

Location
Tenacre Country Day School

Wellesley, MA. Central to the MetroWest area and close to Needham, Natick, Newton, Dover, and surrounding towns.

Scheduling
Attend When You Can

You purchase a session credit package in advance, then select which sessions to attend week by week through the Ollie Sports app. No specific dates are required at registration.

Group Size
Small and Intentional

Sessions are capped to ensure every player receives meaningful coaching attention. This is not a large-group camp environment.

Equipment
Cleats and Shin Guards

Required: cleats and shin guards. Optional: your own ball. Every registered player receives an official MWFA summer training shirt.

Who Can Join
No Tryout Required

Players of any skill level or club background are welcome. The prerequisite is attitude and effort, not experience. Coed sessions.

Pricing

The Session Credit System

How It Works

Before the summer begins, you purchase a package of session credits. Each credit gives you access to one evening training session. You then use those credits to RSVP for the specific sessions you plan to attend, week by week, through the Ollie Sports app.

You do not commit to specific dates at registration. If your summer schedule changes, your credits remain valid for the entire season. You can always add additional credits at a per-session rate if you want more sessions than your original package.

Larger packages carry a lower cost per session — the more you commit to your development, the better the value.

Single Session
Add-On Rate
[ Price ] / session

The per-session cost for adding individual sessions to an existing package after registration. Purchase your package first, then add more as needed.

Starter
3 – 8 Sessions
[ Price ] / package
[ $ per session ]

Good for players with lighter summer schedules or those wanting to sample the program before committing to more sessions.

Full Summer
16 Sessions
[ Price ] / package
[ Best per-session rate ]

For players who want to maximize the summer. Two sessions per week for the full duration of the program at the lowest per-session cost.

Pricing will be confirmed and available at registration. The package structure above reflects the tiers available. Additional sessions can be added to any package at a prorated per-session rate. Sessions missed due to weather or scheduling may be made up at any future session during the same summer.
Our Approach

Why This Works

The quality of the training program is determined by how well it is designed and delivered.

Individual Focus in a Group Setting

Most group training programs are structured around managing the group rather than developing the individual within it. Our sessions are designed so that every player receives direct coaching feedback on their specific execution throughout the session. The groups are small by design and coaches are expected to know each player's development priorities, not just run the drill.

A Professionally Written Curriculum

Our coaches deliver sessions built around a professionally written curriculum that defines the learning outcomes for each training block across the summer. The warm-up, isolated skill work, combination exercises, and live gameplay all connect to one another and serve the same developmental goal. Every session has been planned and structured in advance so that the quality of coaching is consistent regardless of which coach is leading that evening.

The Integration to Isolation Sliding Scale
Session Design Principle

Every session begins with skill in its most isolated form and gradually builds toward live game application. This approach allows players to develop true mastery and confidence in a skill before being asked to apply it under pressure. The goal is not just repetition but understanding so that what's learned in training translates directly into match performance.

Questions

FAQ

Do I need to try out or play at a certain level?
No. There are no tryouts for this program and skill is not a prerequisite. The expectation is entirely around attitude and effort. This is for players who are serious about improving and willing to put the work in, regardless of their current level or club affiliation.
What if I don't know my summer schedule yet?
That is exactly why the credit system exists. You purchase a package and then select which sessions to attend week by week. You are not committing to specific dates at registration. As your schedule becomes clearer over the summer, you simply RSVP for the sessions that work for you through the Ollie Sports app.
Can my schedule change after I register?
Yes. Your session credits are valid for the entire summer program. You can reschedule at any time and sessions can be moved between weeks freely. We cannot issue refunds on purchased credits, but your credits do not expire during the season. Additional sessions can be added at a per-session rate if you want more than your original package.
Is this program coed?
Yes. These are mixed-gender sessions. With the focus on education and individual skill development rather than competition, mixed environments are beneficial for development at this level. The content and expectations apply equally to all players.
What do players need to bring?
Cleats and shin guards are required. Players may optionally bring their own ball. Every registered player receives an official MWFA summer training shirt, and players are encouraged to wear it.
What happens if a session is cancelled due to weather?
We will make every effort to run sessions as scheduled and will not cancel for rain unless the school closes the fields. If a session is cancelled, parents should be prepared to pick players up early. Cancelled sessions due to weather can be made up at any later session in the same summer at no additional cost.
How is this different from a summer soccer camp?
Camps are designed around volume and accessibility — a lot of players, a variety of activities, and a general experience. This program is designed around individual development. Every session has a written plan. Every player receives direct coaching feedback. The groups are small. The sessions have specific learning outcomes that build on one another. The goal is measurable improvement, not an enjoyable week.
